One of my first few pen pieces of twentyeleven.
I took interest in a paper mache mask I found while on a hunting trip for masks with my friend, Jo. I had to pick an item to sketch for my first art assignment and the rough, uneven textures of this mask looked irresistible under the perfect lighting.

I can’t remember which drawing came first, but I do know that I was relieved to find it wasn’t a disaster. You have no idea how apprehensive I was when I picked up that 0.28 black pen to embark on the task of drawing something realistic.
Before these drawings, I never had the guts to go this far. Never.
My previous pen works were mostly graphic designs (I’ll post them later), I never mustered the courage to do realistic still life sketches. I’m glad Mdm Jennifer pushed me to try. I’ve never looked back since.
